How do you manage students on the programme and beyond so that successful students remain part of your talent pipeline?

Building strong relationships

Building a strong relationship between our Early Talent team and vacation schemers is very important to us. Due to our small team size, the same Early Talent representatives are with the candidates throughout their journey – at the events they attend in Autumn, inviting and coaching them through what to expect from the assessment centre, hosting the assessment centre, all the way through to onboarding the candidate and supporting them across our vacation scheme. Ultimately this creates a familiarity between the student and team from the offset and increases their engagement.

Our vacation scheme online brochure hosts videos of the team, again allowing the students to get to know not only Early Talent but the Graduate Talent Partners too. This is coupled with our LinkedIn page where personal insights are shared and a pre-event social hosted in the London office. At the end of the vacation scheme we also run an exit interview where next steps are discussed.

Our Graduate Talent Partners speak with each successful candidate to inform them of the training contract offer. This is then followed up by the supervisor/s and/or buddies. The want of the business to speak with the candidate to give them the positive news highlights the relationship built in such a short period of time. But the relationship does not only continue with the offers, we also offer feedback and guidance to those who are unsuccessful, which in turn means some re-apply having received such a positive experience, even with less favourable news.
